Highlights of Mount Scott

Let me just say right off the bat that it was not a mountain. But Oklahomans call it that, and I guess it's the best they can do so we're going with it. It was beautiful though, and the most impressive hiking we've done in this state. We celebrated Veterans Day by camping with my favorite serviceman. And shamefully I don't even think I talked with the kids about veterans day. I had every intention of doing so. But camping, if you're a parent, is a lot of work. There's so much to remember. We're taking everything we need out of a house, packing it up, transporting it to a dirty vacant spot of ground, and then setting it all up again. When you just come right out and call it what it is, it sounds pretty stupid. Buuuuuuuuut, if you remember to pack a Braden with you, he'll do most of the annoying jobs like putting up the tent and rolling up sleeping bags (seriously-what happens overnight that they never fit into those bags in the morning??), so it ends up being pretty worth it. 

I've said it before and I'll just keep on saying it until someone tells me it's annoying- kids belong outside. Sunshine, vitamin D, dirt under your nails- it's natures therapy. And smores and stars and hiking aren't too bad for the soul either.

We didn't bring firewood-because duh- the woods. But we also didn't bring a saw or an axe. But that's okay because like I mentioned before, as long as you remember your Braden, he'll just knock over a tree for you. That's manly man stuff right there.

Maisey is hiding from him under the blanket. This kid loves him some big sisters. He does have the best.

Longhorns and buffalo roaming around was a fun addition.

I'll follow this crowd any day. But especially today because all the snacks are in their backpacks.

She's telling me to go up the mountain and she insists that I follow her. She has no idea where she's going but she wants everyone to know that she's the boss. One day that quality will pay off for her, right? Assuming she figures out where she's going. I follow her anyway because she is constantly saying funny things. Also, she counts on  me to help her go pee behind trees and as the doer of her laundry, I want that process to be as smooth as possible.

Emmett fell asleep right as we ended our hike and arrived back at camp. Braden carefully placed him in the car to finish up.
