Chester's Pumpkin Patch- Piedmont Oklahoma

Thursday was supposed to be the last nice day of weather for several days. I decided we better pull the kids out of one of their last days of school and celebrate that. I couldn't bear the thought of missing a day at a pumpkin patch just so they could spend their day filling their heads with useless nonsense like reading, writing, and arithmetic. We had a perfect day together. It was the right choice.

I actually did a little home school with them before we went. It went pretty well. Except Elise. Wow, she asks a lot of questions when it comes to learning about nomads. It actually got to be pretty disruptive. She may not be ready to sit in on group discussions about ancient civilizations quite yet.

We were almost the only ones there. The kids had all the animals to themselves that they they got to feed and interact with. The weather was absolutely beautiful. It was my favorite day of October.

Watching a bull eat a pumpkin is not for the faint of heart. My stomach literally heaved.

I felt so much affection for this little piggy. She was so cute and clean. And snorty. I was tempted to promise her that I would never eat bacon again. But then I remembered how stupid that would be since it's so delicious so I decided to just giver her an extra handful of food to help us both out down the road.

I have eyelash envy. Oh and eye liner envy. Plus her hair is fabulous. I guess what I'm saying is, I wish I was an alpaca.
Kristine Reynolds-this picture was taken just for you.

Make sure to think of this creepy eye ball staring you down next time you go to eat a turkey sandwich.

The corn maze was Lila's happy place.

I like this picture so much. {Even though Elise isn't happy. This is the face she makes when she needs to poop but she won't, because we're not at home. And public pooping is an actual skill that toddlers must acquire.} I love Braden's eye smile wrinkles in this picture. That smile is real. The creases are deep  when he feels truly happy in that moment. They are an outward display of his emotion- which is a special blessing to me from Heaven. I think when God created Braden ,he made those just for me. It's to make up for the fact that he doesn't like to talk a whole lot about how he's feeling. When I see those wrinkles I know he is good. And it makes my heart feel sort of squishy and gooey. Plus I do tend to get a little more sentimental in the fall- especially for him. Every time the cool weather comes my mind returns to my first fall in Virginia. The one where I realized how breath taking fall can be outside of California. The one where I crunched thousands of leaves while walking the streets of Buena Vista with my new friend, Braden. That was when I first fell in love with fall. And Braden. So naturally, I get a little giddy this time of year.

punkin chunkin!

Emmett just did was he does, sat around and smiling and gumming Cheerios.
