Martins Nature Preserve

We decided that we would either camp or hike every weekend that the weather permits. Even on busy weekends we're still making an effort to drive somewhere within an hour and spend a few hours together in nature. It's an important commitment. Time together, building friendships, exercise, learning to pee outside--all good things.

Emmett apparently got tired. Instead of walking past this tree stump he decided to stop and rest on it. Those are not his words. His words were not appropriate to record. It was his attempt at saying, "I sit down". At least he can rhyme.

Can you find Braden in the tree? Oh you can't? Well then can you imagine my mild anxiety as announced that this was the highest he had ever climbed and he wondered how he was going to get down?

Lila pretended she was an owl for the duration of the hike. Last time she was a queen. She seems to adopt a character for each hike and she really gets into the role. It's entertaining and it helps move her pokey body down the trail, bless her time-taking little heart.
